It may be time to give your kitchen an oil change. Whether it’s Carotino Red Palm & Canola Oil, olive oil or fish oil, even healthy cooking oils don’t last forever. Some opened cooking oils can go rancid after a month or two affecting the taste and quality of your food. Other oils, such as vegetable oils, may last up to two or three years. Carotino has a much longer shelf life than other oils.
To help your cooking oils stay fresh, store them in a dark cupboard away from heat. Make sure they are sealed because air can accelerate their spoilage. Some oils may last longer if refrigerated. While many oils – including palm fruit oil – may solidify at lower temperatures, it does not harm the oil and it will liquefy when it warms to room temperature again.
If you have oils that you use infrequently, consider buying smaller bottles and marking the bottle with the date it was opened.
